Concept Explanation

Triangular Arrangement - Facing Outside

Seating Arrangement: Arrangement is the positioning of things, persons, etc. in a particular order. Seating arrangement is the manner in which people are arranged to sit around a table, in a row etc.

Triangular Arrangement - Facing Outside: In a triangular arrangement, persons are arranged around a triangle, according to certain conditions. Here we are discussing the arrangement in which all the people are sitting around a triangle facing away from the centre of the triangle or we can say facing outside. They may be a situation in which certain objects are placed in a triangular order with their faces away from the centre. In triangular arrangement when the persons are facing outside.  Right means Clockwise Direction and Left means Anti-clockwise Direction

Illustration: A, B, C, D, E, F are sitting in a triangle facing outside, three of then are sitting at corner and three in the middle.

  • A sits at corner.  B is third to the right of A.
  • E sits adjacent to B and is not an immediate neighbour of C.
  • A sits second to the left of F.
  • Question : - Who sits second to the left to the one who is immediate right of E?

    A. D        B. C          C. F        D.  B          E. A

    Answer: D

Solution: According to the first statement it is given that A sits at corner.  B is third to the right of A and as the persons are facing outside Right means Clockwise Direction. The positions are shown in Figure I

    Figure I

In the next statement it is given that E sits adjacent to B. So according to the figure I there can be two possibilities, they are shown in Figure II and Figure III

    Figure II

    Figure III

In the next statement it is given that A sits second to the left of F. But the position where F  can placed is occupied in Figure III so it is eliminated and Hence on placing F in figure II we get Figure IV

    Figure IV

In the second statement it was also given that E sits adjacent to B and is not an immediate neighbour of C.  So we will place C as shown in Figure V

    Figure V

The vacant position is occupied by D. and the final figure will be.

We will solve the question using the figure. The person on the immediate right position to E is D because the persons are facing outside so the right means clockwise, and the person who is second to the left of D is B because left means anticlockwise. Hence B is the person who sits second to the left to the one who is immediate right of E. Hence the correct option is B.
